Fudoki Botanical Garden
The only one of its kind in Japan, this botanical garden is home to about 80 types of plants which correspond to those listed in the Izumo-no-kuni Fudoki, a Nara-period (eighth-century) collection of writings about the province of Izumo. A number of different flowers and fruit are viewable: fritillaries and nodding anemone in the spring; blackberry lilies and Vincetoxicum atratum in the summer (the latter in early summer); and bugbane and scarlet kadsura in the fall.
